Family time, more exercise, less work...we speak with Max Azria, Joy Gryson, Mara Hoffman, Venessa Arizaga, and more to find out what some of our favorite designers are hoping for in 2013.
Max: I have to try to make each minute exciting, happy, and passionate. I wish to be healthy, I wish to work a little bit less in order to have time to share everything I’ve learned and, importantly, have time to learn more. My most valuable lesson is that nothing in life is more important than family.
Lubov: Throughout this busy time I will make sure to spend a little time on myself. Relax, indulge, and have fun! It’s even okay to be a little naughty…on occasion, of course. When I feel great, everyone else will too! For health in 2013… Keep my body hydrated, drink a lot of water, and constantly fuel with foods that work for me, not against me. Also, exercise is so important for my skin. And, I have to say, Korean spas. They really know how to take care of skin, and they do these amazing scrubs. You come out of there like a brand new baby.
My resolution is to be more patient with my loved ones… I have a tendency of being more patient with strangers than I do the ones closest to me—gotta work on that!
My resolution is to travel more and to fulfill my wanderlust. My travels are what inspire me to create and design and ultimately, to appreciate the world we live in.
My resolution is to take better care of myself. To listen to my body, my head, and my heart, and not to procrastinate taking care of their needs.
My New Year's resolution for 2013 is to spend more time with my family. As the owner of a small business, I spend most of my time working long hours, even on weekends. This year I will make it a point to make more time for my husband and family!
In 2013 I’m going to set aside more time to get out to see dear friends and colleagues. When I’m not being social, I’ll spend more time with my parents.
Cecilia: My resolutions for 2013 are to finally organize my piles of pictures into leather bound albums by year, travel to places I have never been more often, stay in better touch with those I love, and get back into shape after having a baby and slacking for 10 months!
Karla: This year I want to run a marathon in either NYC or Chicago, develop a Piamita collaboration, continue to grow my nonprofit organization Project Paz, and have a baby!
To try to get out of my own way and be kinder to myself and others. And, start exercising constantly!
Karla: This past year has been a year of nonstop work. For 2013, I want to continue to grow the business, work on my fitness, and most importantly, log in more time with my biggest fans — my beautiful family and friends.
Shilpa: As a ‘mom-trepreneur’ I'm consistently wearing numerous hats and juggling a million things at once. For the new year, I'm aiming to slow down and be more present in every role I play.
My New Year’s resolution is to live and appreciate each day to its fullest, and not fixate on the little things. I want to focus on seeing things full picture, and not let the nitty gritty pull me down!
Ariel: My New Year's resolution is to cook more often and entertain my friends and family.
Christina: My resolution is to attend more concerts and make it to Burning Man this year.
My goal for 2013 is to edit and focus and to reexamine priorities — an attempt at a streamlined life! And there is always the carry-over diet and fitness goal from past years...
Work towards communicating ideas with more visuals and more and more adjectives! Design for daytime and nighttime!
