Irina Shayk Talks Transition from Swimwear to High-Fashion

Looking gorgeous in black-and-white, Irina Shayk pounded the pavement in New York City with a friend on Saturday (October 6).

The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover girl wore a white ribbed top with black pants and black high-tops, carrying a matching leather handbag and her trusty cell phone.

Recently, the Russian model was given the opportunity to host "Russia's Top Model." While the 26-year-old brunette beauty may be best known for her swimsuit photos, she's now focusing on high-fashion shoots, gracing the cover of French magazine L'Express Style's September issue.

In an interview with Modelinia, she talked about the transition. "It's not so much difficul t as it is just a totally different style of shooting. It's all about poses and what will be appropriate for a swim shoot as opposed to a high fashion shoot."

She went onto make a very high-brow simile, proving that there's more to her than just a pretty face: "It's like comparing two different styles of literature - Agatha Christie and Dostoevsky are both great writers, but their styles are very different from one another."

Enjoy the pictures of Irina Shayk out in NYC (October 6).
