London's Holiday Windows 2012

It’s true that each winter, tourists not only flock from around the world to make a start on their holiday shopping in London’s leading department stores, but also to check out some of its breathtakingly festive windows. Months of planning and hard work have gone into producing the seemingly flawless results that leave it almost impossible for visitors to decide which department store has created the most show-stopping displays. This weekend, we decided to evoke that Christmas spirit by taking a look at some of the stores’ most spectacular Yuletide windows.

  • Harrods

As we’ve already reported, this year Harrods’ windows have been given a fairytale makeover with half of its windows featuring the Disney Princesses, who are all wearing their own exclusive designer frocks.

Selfridges is channeling the British vibe, perhaps an homage to a very celebratory British year that included the Olympics and the Dia mond Jubilee. The Queen’s corgis, pearly men, and typically British Christmas traditions like puddings and crackers are key.

Named "Liberty Express Christmas", Liberty was inspired by the Victorian age of the steam train. Queen Victoria travelled in style in her own carriage, which was an opulent saloon designed for decadent comfort. The theme was further perfected thanks to watching Hollywood classics such as Some Like It Hot, Murder On The Orient Express, and Brief Encounter.
