Harvard's student-life committee will officially ratify the school's first-ever kink club, Harvard College Munch, tomorrow, says the student paper the Crimson. "Munches" are casual, clothes-on gatherings where members of the BDSM community meet/greet before they sub/dom. By gaining official club status, Harvard's Munch becomes eligible for "DAPA food grants" — which we think is Cambridge-speak for pizza money — and will provide a safe space for students to discuss their increasingly less taboo sexual desires. And they're not the only kinky co-eds for whom the fraternity paddle no longer cuts it. According to an Observer article on the topic, BDSM groups have sprung up at Tufts, MIT, Yale, and the University of Chicago, while Brown, UPenn, and Cornell have hosted BDSM seminars. If the utter sexual liberation of high-strung college students doesn't move you: The Observer art icle points out that these groups also look out for the safety of freshman Anastasias whose unfamiliarity with the BDSM scene makes them easy targets for sexual abuse.
