Alexa Chung has scored a very fashionable hat-trick by winning the British Style Award at the British Fashion Awards for the third year in a row.
The honour, which is voted for by the public, recognises the nation's favourite style icon and it seems there's no danger of Chung's self-confessed geek-meets-tomboy style going out of favour anytime soon. The style maven beat off stiff competition from the likes of Victoria Beckham, the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Moss and Cara Delevingne to take home the award at the ceremony held at The Savoy tonight.

It's been a busy year for the television presenter/model/DJ (she triumphs in the slashes department too) - in February she was appointed Young Style Ambassador by the British Fashion Council, then in March, she did her bit for eco-friendly fashion by penning a passionate piece about the effect of fast fashion on the environment for British Vogue (to which she is a contributing editor). She was then unveiled as the face of Maje, the current label du jour of the cool kids. She's also managed to fit in a fleeting guest appearance on Gossip Girl and, of course, perch nonchalantly on the world's most-coveted front rows.
But, despite her jam-packed year in style she shows no signs of hanging up her espadrilles anytime soon. She recently announced that not only is she working on a self-designed clothing line but she's set to pen a book too. Although it won't be a 'style bible' as such, Chung has promised it will be "a compendium of drawings and photographs" allowing insight into her fashionista lifestyle.

The jack-of-all-trades admitted earlier this year that the phenomenal attention her style has brought her "was very much a case of being in the right place in the right time". Having worked as an unknown - yet equally as stylish - model for years before fame knocked on her door, Chung credits being styled for shoots every day as the reason she now knows what suits her.
Ever the self-effacing middle-class Brit, she regularly disregards her 'style icon' status and earlier this year claimed she's "really just been ripping off Jane Birkin" and Francoise Hardy with her mussed-up bob and effortlessly cool style.

Now based in New York, the 29-year-old is thoroughly ensconced in the city's achingly hip set of bright young things and counts model Poppy Delevingne, DJ Harley Viera-Newton and writer Derek Blasberg amongst her closest pals in the Big Apple. Between her witty tweets and hipster road trips she's also managed to fit in a little presenting (ah yes, that's why she's famous!) with her latest venture, fashion design reality show 24 Hour Catwalk .
She's certainly come a long way since that Holly Valance video…
