"The Best Damn Thing," indeed!
When Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger, 37, asked singer Avril Lavigne, 27, to be his wife on August 8, the "Photograph" rocker presented the punk rock princess with a dazzling 14-carat diamond engagement ring.
According to jewelry expert Michael O'Connor, the bauble is worth an estimated $350,000. "A pear shape diamond set in platinum is a nod to vintage glamour and individuality -- perfect for a rocker like Avril," O'Connor tells Us Weekly. "The half-moon diamonds are also rare since they would have to be specially cut to fit on either side of the center diamond. The center diamond is approximately 10 carats, with and additional 4 carats of total side diamonds."
Lavigne decided to debut her bling on the cover of Hello! Canada's September 10 issue, where Kroeger opened up about how their professional relationship turned romantic. "I knew I was falling for h er," Kroeger said of their lengthy studio sessions. "It was incredibly powerful and something I'll never forget."
Dating for six months, never-married Kroeger said he feels "like the luckiest person alive because I get to be with my best friend every day!"
Lavigne -- who dated reality star Brody Jenner, 29, on-and-off from 2010-2012 and was wed to Sum 41 singer/guitarist Deryck Whibley, 32, from 2006-2010 -- gushed that Kroeger makes her laugh "every day."
"He takes care of me in every way and is extremely attentive," she raved.
