Lena Dunham Set To Launch 'Girls' Nail Varnishes

Way back in October we got ourselves terribly over excited about the very first episode of Sky Atlantic comedy debut Girls – a show about the painful, tragic and tormented transition we make once into adulthood and in which Lena Dunhan stars as the self-scripted, self-directed Hannah Horvath.

Since then, both the show and Lena herself have racked up literally thousands of column inches, both positive and not so... At first the show was lauded as ‘the voice of a generation’ and a Sex and the City for the 21st century, but before long critics began to attack the lack of ethnic diversity in the show, damning not just the series, but also Lena for her fashion sense, size (not zero) and enthusiasm for acting out mortifying sex scenes.  Mean.  Right?

But hey, here at Grazia towers we’re fans of both the show and Miss Dunham. Smart, successful and outspoken she’s surely a good role model for girls? Plus, from where we are standing her her shape-shifting hair, inexplicable tattoos and her wincingly precise observations on being young and vaguely privileged in modern times are all rather intriguing.

But onto the next thing… because this week we learned that Lena’s next big leap is…nail polish.  And no we weren’t really expecting this one either. Word on the street suggests that the actress and show creator has teamed up with Deborah Lippmann to create a four-part set of varnishes inspired by the show. Hannah has been matched with Hapless Hunter Green, Marnie with Prim and Proper Pink, Jessa with Bohemian Burgundy and Shoshanna with Virtuous Vivid Violet.

What are your thoughts and would you be tempted to paint your tips and toes in Hannah’s Hapless Hunter?
