7 Stunningly Simple Hairstyles to Wow the Holiday Party Circuit

Want to add a little panache to your holiday hair? Something not too difficult or fussy, yet still special is in order. Take inspiration from these runway looks that prove it's all about hair accessories, a little tease, and an unexpected twist. The best part: you can master all of these styles even if you're not an artiste when it comes to styling your locks.

  • It's a Wrap

Ah, the wrap pony, so chic, so sophisticated. And easy to do in five minutes or less. This is especially a great way to reuse the previous day's flat ironing efforts. Use shine serum to smooth down frizzies and a wide boar's bristle brush to pull your hair back in a smooth, sleek way. Secure with rubber band. Take a piece of hair from the bottom of the pony, wrap it around the band to hide, secure end of wrap with bobby pin. Spritz with hairspray. Done. Off to party.

  • Twisted Sister

Could this be any easier? Another effortless second-day style (this time for your leftover waves), you can pull this off in no time flat. Part your hair in the middle and take a section of hair  from your temple, twist it, and bobby pin to the back of your head. Repeat with opposite temple. Make sure the twists are pinned as close together in the back as possible. Leave it as is or add a sparkling barrette.

  • Milk Maiden

This look takes slightly more time than the twist, but we can't resist its innocent vibe for holiday fetes. This works best with long locks. Use hair from your hairline at the back of your neck to make a braid (any size will do) wrap the braid over the top of your head like a headband, secure on t he other side with a bobby pin.

  • She's Come Undone

The faux bob is one of our favorite looks. So versatile, so easy. There's more than one way to achieve it. But we like this method: Use a teasing comb/brush on basically straight hair to add volume and texture. Secure hair at the bottom of your neck with a hair elastic. Roll the tail underneath your hair and secure at the top of your neck with bobby pins. Here's the fun part. Gently pull at the back to create volume and feel free to pull out pieces at the front at random for an undone l ook.

Same style, add a little star action. Or any accessory action you choose. Pretty clips are basically a must-have during the holidays. Place them strategically or...

...at random a la Tory Burch's girls. A French twist gets a lighthearted, youthful update with these flower clips. Just beware, you'll want to avoid rhinestone butterflies and the like. Mariah Carey overdid it in the 90s, and the motif has yet to regain any class it might have had before she took hold of it.

Want a simple DIY project to fill your Christmas break? Here's one: head to the craft store and buy a black grosgrai n or velvet ribbon a couple of inches wide. Hot glue faux gems, rhinestones, trim or chain to it. Wrap it around your head so the decorated portion is at the top (obvi) and tie it at the base of your neck with a pretty bow.
