X Marks the Spot: Get Cody Horn's and Allison Williams Cross-Front Dresses

Part sexy and sporty halter, part smart and sophisticated wrap dress, criss-cross necklines are an unexpected—and eye-catching—trend this winter. Look for a dress with one of these uniquely draped cross-front details to bring your wardrobe back into the fashion fold.

Not sure how to pull off this complicated (looking) style? Get inspired by Allison Williams’ look at the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards. This latest “It” girl’s pale pink Peter Som Spring 2013 dress featured a carefully constructed bodice made up of a criss-cross neckline and off the shoulder sleeves—a clever spin on the cutout craze. Her strappy Alejandro Ingelmo sandals echoed the X’s in the top, and the actress wisely went with simple jewelry, makeup, and hair. Scarlett Johansson took a less sartorial approach to the cross-front dress at an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman. Her black keyhole halter dress was by Giambattista Valli—she layered a Stella McCartney jacket over it without hiding the elegantly knotted neckline.

Cody Horn charmed at the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards in another cross-front dress. Her Thakoon Spring 2013 with a canary yellow criss-cross halter and birdcage design on the A-line skirt was a ray of sunshine for the season. A punchy pink lip and gold T-strap sandals completed the Magic Mike actress’ impeccable look. All these woven necklines making you cross-eyed with envy?
