Anne Hathaway: Les Miserables Director Tom Hooper Begged Me to End Losing Weight

Anne Hathaway was underneath a whole lot of pressure to shed weight for her role as a ailment -ridden prostitute in director Tom Hooper's film adaptation of the epic Broadway musical Les Miserables -- but not from Hooper himself, or from anybody else on the manufacturing side of the film.

In a new interview with the Los Angeles Occasions , the 29- yr - outdated Golden Globe nominee admits that her drastic make- under -- which concerned practically starving herself to drop 25 pounds from her currently -slim frame -- was an obsession of her very own creating, not her director's. In simple fact, he attempted to speak her out of it.

"To be straightforward, I considered she was going more than she must, and I tried to discourage her," Hooper tells the newspaper of Hathaway's extreme bodyweight loss.

"Tom didn't like what I was undertaking, but he understood why I was executing it," the act ress counters. "No 1 liked what I was carrying out. By the end, people have been hugging me, and they would get emotional because I felt so frail."

However, the star insists she has no regrets about pushing herself to the brink, specifically if it nudges her occupation forward. (Some say she's presently a lock for an Oscar nomination, even though she claims her efficiency of "I Dreamed a Dream" is just "eh.")

"I see the sort of function that folks like Meryl Streep and Cate Blanchett and Kate Winslet can do, and I want to do that degree of work so badly," she tells the L.A. Times of people Oscar winners. "But I don't think I'm as gifted as them. So the only factor I can manage is how hard I work at it -- how much do I commit to it? How far will I consider it?"
